Why Do You Need a Portable Monitor?

When it comes to portable monitors, some people might wonder: Would anyone actually buy such a large monitor that requires multiple cables to connect? Why not just use a tablet? Isn’t that more convenient?

It’s perfectly normal to have such doubts. If you’ve never used a portable monitor or don’t require one in your daily life or work, it’s hard to appreciate the convenience and efficiency it offers.

Let me share my own work experience as an example. Having used a portable monitor myself, I can confidently say the experience is excellent. Here’s a glimpse into how I use it and the scenarios where it proves indispensable.

My Work and the Need for a Portable Monitor

My job requires frequent travel. Sometimes I visit new clients to achieve sales targets; other times, I meet existing clients to address after-sales issues or explore their new requirements.

This means that aside from having a fixed desk at the office, I often need to set up a workspace in various locations, as my office environment on the road is rarely consistent.

I’ve worked temporarily in places like tea shops, coffee shops, KFC, McDonald's, supermarkets, client reception areas, client meeting rooms, and even their canteens.

In such situations, a portable monitor becomes incredibly practical. Before heading out, I pack my lightweight laptop, portable monitor, one Type-C charging adapter, two Type-C-to-Type-C cables, and a compact mouse. With these essentials, I can set up a dual-screen workstation anywhere with a power outlet. This ensures I can confidently present my solutions to clients without worrying about the lack of an external display.

My Future Plans

I’m now considering upgrading to a touchscreen portable monitor. This would eliminate the need for a mouse, making my setup even more streamlined and portable.
